Northeastern writer Ban Yu once wrote about Song Yuanyuan: “In his new paintings, in those chaotic collages, ferocious deconstruction, between the riots of objects and things, is it possible to read out this genetic picture of ‘grief’, or to abbreviate it, at least to perceive a melancholic gaze: both from outside and from both outside and within the picture – an inversion and redrawing of solemnity.”
